The professionals
here at the Center for Prental Diagnosis provide medical care for complicated pregnancies on a referral basis from their primary obstetrical care provider. Each patient is seen by one of our two Maternal-Fetal Medicine specialists, James Sumners, MD and Maurice Eggleston, MD. Examples of problems seen include maternal medical
disorders antedating pregnancy, prior and recurrent pregnancy loss,
identified risk of fetal birth defect, evolution of a complication
during pregnancy, and ultrasound identification of a fetal anatomic
abnormality during pregnancy. In addition, the qualified staff
is available for educational presentations to professional and
lay groups.
Our physicians are trained in Obstetrics and Gynecology
and in the subspecialty of Maternal-Fetal Medicine. Our staff
also includes two sonographers, one nurse, and three genetic counselors
which have extensive experience in assisting with the care of
individuals carrying a pregnancy affected by a birth defect as
well as those at risk of a birth defect.
