   Ultrasound performed by a specialist to examine the baby for physical birth defects such as the problems described on our "Ultrasounds" pages.

   18-20 weeks gestation

Detection Rate

• >95% detection of open neural tube defects
• Screens for many other major birth defects and is considered the follow-up screening for patients pursuing first trimester screening
